Let’s face it; life is just not easy when you are an adult. You get up, go to work, get the kids ready, come home, make dinner, go to bed and then start the whole day over again. Of course, everyone has their different agendas, but the bottom line is that life can just be plain exhausting. After all that running, it’s important to just refresh, recoup and regroup. As a team of web developers, it’s important that we take time off as well. You may need time off from web development, web design, content writing, or just a little time off from everything. Did you know the best way to reenergize yourself is to just walk away? No one is a perfect worker, but you can be your best when you take care of yourself. Consider these tips when it comes to getting your groove back.

Take some time off

This is a no-brainer when it comes to advise for recuperating. Talk to your boss and see how much time you can get off. This may be a little more difficult when you have deadlines to make and clients to please. If you are the boss, then consider talking to your clients. If they appreciate you and your work, then they will be more than willing to give you some time off. Even if you only take the afternoon off, you will still be a better worker.

Change things up a bit

If you are burnt out, then maybe it’s time to switch things up a bit. Yes, there is a saying that says “don’t fix what’s not broken.” However, when you are looking at the bigger picture, you are broken and something needs to change. It’s your job to produce quality level production at your job. It’s like that famous Snickers commercial—“You are not you when you’re hungry.” The same goes for your job—“you are not you when you’re burnt out.” Stop thinking you got the whole world in your hands when in reality you are 2.7 seconds away from a severe meltdown.

Throw a party

Seriously, throwing a party is a great way to recuperate from burnout. Even if the boss won’t let you throw a party in the office—throw one for the whole team anyways. (Just do not risk your job for this party.) Have a little get-together to relax your mind, and take your brain away from that looming deadline for a while. Imagine how productive you will be when you actually focus on having a little bit of fun for once.

Take care of your body

One of the main reasons that you are so burnt out is that you are not taking care of yourself. You are staying up till 2 AM trying to meet a deadline, not exercising, and not eating right. All of these bad choices are a great way to go from 0-60 in five seconds flat. Take care of yourself first, and then take care of business. This does not mean you need to spend 5 hours in the morning doing your hair, but you get a general idea.

How do I, Brian the Top Chimp, relax?

Well, since I am the top chimp around here, I call the shots. Basically, my day consists of trying to please customers, but I try and get a banana break in there every once in a while. Of course, on the weekends I take the Mrs. out for a nice banana split. No matter what, I always try to do something to get my mind off work. It helps me refresh, recoup and regroup. I encourage the other monkeys to do the same. After all, taking a break does make us a little chimpier at the end of the day.
