Let’s face it we all hope that Social Media will one day be the answer to all of our website woes. That one morning we will wake up to a steady stream of high-quality traffic that hangs on our every word.

Now, I would never want to dispel this myth. In fact, I am going to try to support it by giving you some tools that may make your dreams come true.

Seven Modules That Will Turn Your Drupal Site into A Social Networking Phenom

Gigya – Social Infrastructue

Gigya has built quite an amazing suite of tools to allow social sharing and activity on any site. This Drupal module integrates a few of them into your site. Notable features are:

  • Social Login – Login with your Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and more.
  • Share – It would not be Social Media without sharing. Gigya does not disappoint
  • Comments – Gigya’s Comments plugin enables site users to post comments and have discussions about published content on your site.
  • Reactions – The Reactions plugin allows users to react to content on your site and share their reactions to social network

Post it Everywhere

This is a nice module, it allows you to post status updates to a number of Social Media sites with the click of one button.

Supported Networks are:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • LinkedIn
  • Friendfeed

Activity Stream

If you post updates and nobody knows about it.. does it really make a noise? Activity Stream builds a lifestream, a “River of You”, by aggregating all your social activities in one place.

Share Buttons (AddToAny) by Lockerz

The share widget (AddToAny) module by Lockerz helps readers share, bookmark, and email your pages and articles (aka stories) using any service, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, StumbleUpon, and over 100 more sharing and social bookmarking sites

Disqus

To have something worthy of sharing it needs to be engaging. While Drupal has a built-in comments ability, Disqus takes commenting to the next level.

DISQUS is a comments platform that helps you build an active community from your website’s audience.

Drupal for Facebook

With somewhere around a “quadrillion” users you can’t have a Social Media roundup and not include Facebook. This module will not disappoint

Twitter

It seems like there are almost as many Twitter modules as there are tweets. If simple integration is all you require then this module is all you need.

But as a bonus integration check out this neat tutorial from Webwash.net http://webwash.net/tutorials/display-twitter-cards-drupal-using-meta-tag…

Summary

As with any roundup, this is just a small sample of some outstanding contributed modules. I would love to hear about any that I might be missing.
