Last week, the monkeys ditched the rain (thanks, Canada!) and made our way to sunny Austin, Texas, for the Healthcare Internet Conference (HCIC). It was three days of non-stop conversations, incredible energy, and a whole lot of learning from some of the best minds in healthcare. Here’s a little peek into what went down!

Where We Went

First, let’s talk about Austin. What a city! From the amazing BBQ to the vibrant downtown buzz, Austin brought its A-game as the perfect host for HCIC. The venue itself was packed with healthcare innovators, tech enthusiasts, and people just as obsessed with solving digital problems as we are.

Our booth was in the middle of it all, decked out in true Cheeky Monkey style—friendly faces, bold ideas, and, yes, a few bananas to keep things fun.

What We Did

Our booth quickly became a hub for conversations. We met so many passionate people from hospitals, clinics, and healthcare organizations, each with their own unique challenges. The big takeaway? Websites in healthcare often feel stuck in the past—too slow, too clunky, or just not doing enough to connect with users.

We heard it all:

  • “We need better accessibility, like, yesterday.”

Every story gave us more insight into the real struggles healthcare organizations face. We dove into problem-solving mode, brainstorming ideas and sharing tips for creating websites that patients (and staff) can actually enjoy using.

When we weren’t deep in conversation, we were soaking in the incredible vibe of the conference. There’s nothing quite like being surrounded by people who are as fired up about making a difference as you are.

What We Learned

If there’s one thing HCIC made crystal clear, it’s this: healthcare websites are overdue for a serious glow-up.

Accessibility and simplicity are everything. Patients don’t want to scroll through endless pages or fight with confusing layouts. They want clear, fast answers—especially when they’re stressed.

Personalization is on the rise. The days of one-size-fits-all are over. From intuitive patient portals to content that feels human, healthcare organizations are rethinking how they connect with their audience.

Security is non-negotiable. With sensitive patient data on the line, organizations are investing in rock-solid security to keep their digital spaces safe.

Final Thoughts

HCIC was more than just a conference—it was a chance to meet incredible people, dive into real-world challenges, and share a few laughs along the way. We left Austin feeling inspired, energized, and ready to help organizations tackle their web headaches head-on.
