HEY monkeys. I’ve missed your smiling monkey faces around here. It’s that time again. I break down the hottest stuff happening around the web. Are you ready for this awesomesauce?

The first stop on the monkey weekly train is a blog post written by yours truly. As a client looking for a website, it all can be really confusing. There is a lot of mumbo jumbo you need to know about and this is a great starting point.

Cheeky Monkey Media is very passionate about Drupal, obviously. As easy as we make it look to our clients, Drupal is really a more complicated pile of bananas. I wanted to take you deeper into the teamwork behind CMM. If we’re creating websites this awesome, then something has got to be working right

Capturing what happens throughout the week is a fun job. You know why? I come out to the beach every Friday with my laptop in hand prepared to deliver an awesome monkey weekly to you. Now, let me take a sip of my banana smoothie before I finish typing this up.

You’ve probably heard it a million times that Drupal.org had to reset passwords. According to a source “Passwords for almost one million accounts on the Drupal.org website are being reset after hackers gained unauthorized access to sensitive user data.”

We chatter a lot here about the importance of CMS selection. There are several great open source CMS systems, but from our development and design perspective, we are especially partial to Drupal and WordPress.

Open source is misunderstood. Monkeys are tribal by nature, so open source systems come naturally to us, but many humans have a hard time separating the truths from rumors regarding open source content management systems.

This has been a great week at DrupalCon in Portland. I went, but they had to sneak me in. Why? You ask. Well, I am a monkey and real monkeys are not welcome at these sorts of events. However, the Cheeky Monkey Media humans were there and I watched from Gene’s backpack.

You are probably so excited for this week’s round up!

Well, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started.

    This week in monkey land…

Drupal is an incredibly powerful web development tool, like King Kong standing tallest in the jungle. Understanding Drupal’s true value and potential can be difficult for people unaccustomed to working with its awesomeness every day. Diana Dupuis recently wrote a great article for the Linux Journal about comprehending Drupal, and some of her lessons may help you if you’re considering a new Drupal website.

Mobile Phones are on the rise and not going anywhere anytime soon. It is predicted that by 2015 90% of the population in Australia will have a Smartphone. (Of course, 100% of the monkey world already has bananas). Because of this, businesses need to work to keep up with their mobile user’s needs.

A little known fact about monkeys is that we love to make choices. One of the biggest choices that web developers and site owners make is which Content Management System, or CMS, to use when creating a site. Choosing the right one can be harder than choosing which little monkey jumping on a bed will be next to fall off and bump his head. But the stakes are very real, so careful consideration should be given before a final decision is made.
