NOLA – DrupalCon New Orleans 2016
The Situation
DrupalCon 2016, hosted by the Drupal Association, required creative talent capable of capturing the essence of the culturally rich city in which it was to be held - New Orleans. The conference needed a partner prepared to handle all of the branding and design needs. More than just a visually appealing and inspired design, the Drupal Association wanted the material to personally connect with the Drupal community.
The Drupal Association came to Cheeky Monkey Media with this new and exciting challenge to see if the creative Monkeys were up for it. From our previous work with the Drupal Association (Drupal Job Board and DrupalCon 2015) we jumped at the opportunity to be a part of DrupalCon 2016.
The Solution
Excited for the opportunity to produce a design inspired by the historically vibrant city of New Orleans, the creative team got cracking on the initial concept development. Inspiration for the logo design came from the rich French history, and wrought iron that is so prevalent in New Orleans architecture. The crown and the colour purple were used to represent French Royalty and one of the three Mardi Gras colours (both of which happen to look really good on the Monkeys).
The inspired logo was the base from which the branding materials were created. From web design, to print design, to signage and swag design, the Monkeys worked hard to craft a stunningly cohesive brand. The resulting DrupalCon 2016 brand identity captured the New Orleans vibe and the Drupal community's attention (seriously, just ask the attendees about the t-shirts). We can hardly wait until our next project with the Drupal Association - forever a pleasure!
